Our COVID-19 Action Plan

Dear NEOC friends,

As the COVID-19 story continues to develop, the team here at the New England Ocean Cluster is closely monitoring updates and guidelines offered by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), as well as those shared by state and local health experts. We are committed to ensuring that all of our operations are managed in a manner that prioritizes community and employee health and are taking increased precautionary measures as we adapt to reduce risk.

We would like to share with you a handful of practices and requests that can help keep us all healthy:

  • We kindly request that anyone who has traveled outside of the United States within the last 2 weeks please refrain from attending any events at the Hús until they have been home for 2 weeks without falling ill

  • We ask that if you are feeling unwell you stay home, and we are asking the same of our team members

  • During this period of heightened concern, we will facilitate dialogs between travelers and Maine-based entities to allow for a mutual decision to be made regarding whether previously arranged engagements will be kept as planned

  • We are conversing with all our collaborators and clients in our pursuit to ensure all previously arranged programming, events and meetings are carried forward with public health and safety in mind

  • We are committed to adaptation and excited to find new ways to engage with our clients and audiences throughout COVID-19’s period of heightened caution

  • We are routinely cleaning all frequently touched surfaces in the Hús, including countertops, tables and doorknobs with approved disinfectants

Below are a few preventive measures we all should follow. Hygiene is key:

  • Limit handshakes and hugs, opt for fist and elbow bumps, it’s kind of fun to do this with colleagues

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and dispose of the tissue promptly after use

  • Wash the tops and bottoms of your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth as much as possible

  • Let’s remember that even though the presence of the virus has changed the way the world operates, we can still treat one another with kindness. It’s very easy to do. We also believe you can startup in the midst of things slowing down.

We'll share all event related notifications and updates via social media!
